President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on July 31, 2024, launched the DRIP at the Black Square in Accra, aimed at enhancing Ghana’s road network by decentralising road infrastructure development and addressing challenges facing metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (MMDAs) across the country
The Jaman South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Andrews Bediako, has commended the government for its commitment towards prioritizing the welfare of citizens. He said the government has the welfare of citizens at heart and therefore, it would continue to initiate programmes and policies that would bring relief to the people.

Mr Bediako said this when the assembly took delivery of a set of road equipment under the government's District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP). He again said it would aid road works in the respective electoral areas to ensure that all roads were motorable within the municipality.
It is designed to empower MMDAs with the resources and equipment necessary to rehabilitate and maintain roads within their various jurisdictions and effect meaningful changes.

As part of the initiative, 2,240 units of road equipment including motor graders, backhoes, rollers, wheel loaders, bulldozers, water tankers, concrete mixers, tipper trucks, low beds and other essential machinery were commissioned for distribution to the various MMDAs.
He expressed his gratitude to the government for the gesture and said it would go a long way to help improve roads in the area.
